At the end of last year (2004) TTS Ships Equipment AS, Bergen, part of Norway’s TTS Marine’s TTS Dry Cargo Handling Division, was awarded the contract for delivery of cargo access equipment for Scotland’s inter-island ferry operator Caledonian MacBrayne’s new vessel for the Wemyss Bay - Rothesay service, MV Bute (Yard No:1333). The ferry is currently building at Poland’s Northern Yard, Gdansk, part of the Remontowa Group. The contract included three vehicle ramps and the necessary hydraulic operating system, and follows a similar contract completed a few years ago to MV Courisk, the ferry being the first in a series of new generation vessels for the Upper Clyde service. The MV Bute is scheduled to enter service at the end of June this year (2005).
The delivery of equipment for a ROV Survey/Supply Vessel at Norway’s Aker Langsten for Norwegian owner Volstad Maritime AS has strengthened TTS Ships Equipment AS’ position as a leading supplier of doors for offshore supply vessels. The contract included a large side-hinged ROV side door in two sections and a hangar roller door. The equipment was delivered on a very short time basis as the vessel is scheduled for delivery in June this year (2005).
The contract in March with Norway’s Eidsvåg Rederi AS for the conversion of main deck hatch covers introduced a new market opportunity for TTS Ships Equipment AS. The combined bulk/dry cargo carrier Eidsvåg Orion is to be shortened by 23 meters at Norway’s Kvernhusvik Skipsverft AS, and the six remaining pontoon hatch covers converted to three pairs of hydraulic operated folding hatch covers. Again, the order involved a very short delivery time as the vessel is also scheduled for delivery in mid-June this year (2005).
Poland’s Remontowa Group, Gdansk, has also awarded TTS Ships Equipment AS the contract for delivery of fall gates and hydraulic system for Norway’s Nor-Ferries’ newbuilding No.1543. This delivery emphasises the long relationship between Remontowa and TTS and enforces TTS’s position as a leading supplier of equipment for Norwegian double ended ferries. The new ferry will enter service in the north-western part of Norway later this autumn.
